Lola rennt - Jede Sekunde triffst du eine Entscheidung, die dein Leben verändern kann
1998 – Directed by: Tom Tykwer – Starring Franka Potente as Lola and Moritz Bleibtreu as Manni

Critics have written so much about this movie already!

Here are the most essential parts from 36,000 reviews:

100,000 DM | 20 min | red hair | newcomer | German | fast | innovative | modern Berlin | refreshing| Groundhog Day | unconventional | intensive | of the last years | ball is round | smashing

However, what most critics forget to acknowledge:

there are also some quiet scenes, thoughtful "Lola rennt", like this one:

(Lola and Manni lying in bed)

Lola:

Manni?

Manni:

Hm?

Lola:

Do you love me?

Manni:

Sure I do!

Lola:

How can you be so sure?

Manni:

I don't know. I just am!

Lola:

But I could be some other girl!

Manni:

No, you couldn't.

Lola:

Why not?

Manni:

Because you're the best!

Lola:

The best what?

Manni:

Well, the best girl!

Lola:

Of all the girls in the world?

Manni:

Sure!

Lola:

But how can you know that?

Manni:

I just know!

Lola:

You BELIEVE it!

Manni:

Okay, I believe it.

Lola:

See!

Manni:

What?

Lola:

You're not sure!

Manni:

Are you nuts or what?

Lola:

What if you'd never met me?

Manni:

What do you mean?

Lola:

You'd be telling the same thing to someone else!

Manni:

Okay, if you don't wanna hear it...

Lola:

I don’t wanna hear anything. I wanna know how you feel!

Manni:

Okay. My feelings say that you're the best!

Lola:

Your feelings! Who is your feelings anyway?

Manni:

It’s me! My heart!

Lola:

Your heart says 'Hi Manni. She's the one'.And you say 'Thanks for the information. See you around'?

Manni:

Exactly!

Lola:

And you do whatever your heart says?

Manni:

Well, it doesn't say anything. It just FEELS!

Lola:

So what does it feel now?

Manni:

It feels that someone's asking rather stupid questions!

Lola:

Manni! You aren’t taking me seriously!

Each day, every second you make a  decision that might change your life.

I liked "Lola rennt" right off.
I thought: "What a shame that it was directed by Tom Tykwer."

Actually it is my movie:

my speed | my city |and above all...

... my subject.

why?
Long before Tykwer – in 1978 – I already dealt with the subject in a movie ;-)
Almost the entire Super-8-movie consisted of running scenes.

Fair enough, it wasn't Lola running but Ole,
the music wasn't techno but Queen ("Don't Stop Me Now")
and Ole wasn't running in Berlin but from Ludwigsburg to Stuttgart.

Still my movie had an enthusiastic audience, too ...
... even though they were just some of my folks.

More than 20 years later – in 2000 – I worked with the subject once again,
this time I let my dog run, you can see the movie on the website
